Ted Wragg joins The MTPT Project as our third MAT partnership, providing coaching support for staff over the parental leave and extended return to work period.

As part of its commitment to being a life-friendly employer, the Ted Wragg Trust have recently completed a successful pilot providing 1:1 MTPT coaching to eight colleagues across its 18 academies.  The programme supported colleagues through one of life’s most significant transitions, helping them feel connected, supported and confident throughout their parental leave journey.

Colleagues involved in the pilot have shared the positive impact that the coaching has had on their return-to-work experience:

“My coach was able to support me in raising concerns in a way that ensured I felt empowered.  She is validating, which is helpful at a time when you can doubt yourself and be lacking in confidence.  That my coach is totally separate from the Trust is really helpful as she has a level of objectivity that is refreshing and helps keep things objective.  I would thoroughly recommend this coaching.”

Another volunteered to be involved in the pilot to help navigate leadership and parenting young children.  One senior leader said: “I can’t thank you enough for organising this coaching.  My coach is so brilliant and has helped me with a lot of my insecurities that I have felt since becoming a working mother.”

The roll out of 1:1 coaching to all parent-staff follows a close ongoing partnership between The MTPT Project and HR leadership at Ted Wragg exploring improvements to family policies, communication and implementation both at school and Trust level.  Leaders have completed The MTPT Project’s Life Friendly Leadership programme, and Senior HR Business Partner, Vicky Washington spoke about this work as part of the Family Friendly Schools panel at our 2026 Missing Mothers conference

One conference delegate commented: “Vicky spoke with enthusiasm and I loved hearing what she had to say.”

Having heard Vicky’s contributions to the panel, another delegate said: “It would be great to get more attendees from HR in schools and boroughs to support the system of change.”

Ted Wragg’s 1:1 coaching offer with The MTPT Project compliments the group coaching support already available through our Cradle to Classroom programme of parental transition support.  This offers Ted Wragg employees fully-funded access to nine sessions of group coaching and a Return to Work workshop during, and following their parental leave.

We also have an active community in Devon who meet for coffee and support each other through their regional WhatsApp group.
